The Metal Guys work with steel in its true industrial state. The same steel that goes into construction, fabrication, engineering and custom builds across the country. It comes to us straight from mills and foundries, and while it is strong, reliable and built to perform, it is not dressed up like a shop shelf product.

We believe in being upfront. If you know what to expect, you will get the best out of the material you are buying.

How Raw Steel Looks and Feels

Steel that arrives from the mill is built for strength and usefulness, not cosmetics. This means you may see:

  • mill scale
  • slight surface marks
  • rolling lines
  • small blemishes
  • patches of light rust if the item has been stored or shipped through damp conditions

None of these affect performance. They are simply part of the journey from furnace to workshop.

When you see industrial steel on site, this is how it looks before fabricators and engineers work their magic.

Edge Quality: Honest, Functional Cuts

Our standard edges are:

  • sawn
  • sheared
  • cut to size

These methods are designed for accuracy and practicality. They can leave a raw, straight from the saw finish. This is normal and expected.

If you need something smoother, cleaner or more presentable, we offer:

  • polished edges
  • deburring
  • machining
  • fabrication ready cuts

Just tell us at the point of order and we will prepare it the way you need.

Storage, Handling and Care

We store material following recognised best practice. It is kept in controlled areas, handled with care and rotated properly.

Even so, steel is steel. It can pick up light marks from storage racks, forklift movements or courier handling. Surface rust may appear after exposure to moisture during transit. These elements wipe down or grind off easily and do not compromise quality.

When You Need Something Extra Special

Not every project wants a raw finish. When your job calls for something refined, we can upgrade your order with:

  • galvanising
  • polishing
  • grinding
  • fabricated sections
  • prepared surfaces
  • premium finishes

We will make it look as clean and presentable as possible. Just let us know early.
